In an article written for Galileo, Dr. Miriam Berkowitz Dishon ‎ reviews research published in the journal Psychological Science, examining how moderate drinking of alcoholic beverages in a group helps create social ties, promotes smiling and reduces negative emotions. According to this study, moderate drinking can reduce negative emotions, create social connections and help maintain them. Studies have already proven that drinking beyond moderate levels is dangerous and leads to aggressiveness which causes verbal and physical violence. Therefore, immoderate drinking is dangerous to both the individual drinker and the public.
