Rabbi Dr. Sharon Shalom, the founding director of Ono Academic College’s International Center for the Study of Ethiopian Jewry, will speak at an event dedicated to the memory of the late Sephardic Chief Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, on the tenth anniversary of his death.  The memorial will focus on Rabbi Ovadia Yosef’s life, teaching and legacy.

Rabbi Dr. Sharon Shalom will discuss the relationship between Rabbi Ovadia Yosef and the Beta Israel (Ethiopian Jewry). Rabbi Yosef was one of the most senior and significant Israeli Rabbinic leaders who affirmed the historic truth of Beta Israel’s Jewishness.

Other presenters include President of Israel, Yitzhak Herzog, Dr. Tehila Bari-Alon and  Prof. Amichai Radziner.

In addition, an exhibition about Rabbi Ovadia Yosef will accompany the conference featuring exhibits about his life that will be presented for the first time.
