The National Conference on Genetic Counseling: Past, Present and Future was held at Ono Academic College on Thursday, December 6, 2012 and dealt with issues arising from the changing array of genetic counseling, accessibility constraints, technology, professional liability and patients’ rights. At the conference, it was decided to ask the Ministry of Health to address several pressing issues, especially the lack of access to counseling services in periphery and for underprivileged populations, and the regulation and supervision of the working relationship between doctors and counselors.
Several dozen people, doctors and counselors, who are active in the field attended the conference.
