In 2001, Ono opened the Program for the Advancement and Integration of Ethiopian-Israeli Students to provide students of Ethiopian origin with an opportunity to acquire and academic education and access to careers in prestigious professions. Since the program’s inception many hundreds of Ethiopian-Israeli students have graduated Ono and today work in institutions such as the national courts, prosecutor’s office and leading accounting and law firms.
