The Ono Academic College Occupational Therapy Department, together with Bizchut, The Israel Human Rights Center for People with Disabilitieswas selected out of 200 applicants in 45 countries to participate in the Mobility International USA (MIUSA) Empower Partnerships for Inclusive Communities (Empower Partnerships) Professional Exchange Program.
MIUSA stated, "Your application was one of the most outstanding in terms of your partnership sustainability, collaborative project idea, and commitmentto advance disability rights and create a more disability inclusive community."
The Empower Partnerships project is a prestigious, two-way international exchange program for organizations working on or interested in working on disability-related issues and inclusion as articulated in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The project goal is to contribute to efforts to empower a group of persons with disabilities who will become self-advocacy leaders in Israel and work towards the establishment of a forum/organization through which persons with intellectual disabilities can advocate to be treated as equals, to be given the same decisions, choices, rights, responsibilities and chances to speak up for themselves and to learn from their mistakes.
