Ono Academic College congratulates Deputy Fire Commander Tzion Shenkor, a graduate of the college’s Bachelor of Business Administration program, on his appointment as Commander of the Fire and Rescue Service in the Judea and Samaria Region.
Tzion Shenkor was born in Ethiopia and immigrated to Israel as a youth. He made history in 2009 as the first Ethiopian-Israeli to become a battalion commander in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), leading the Shimshon battalion in the Kfir Brigade. Shenkor began his career as a paratrooper, rising through ranks as platoon commander, company commander, and deputy battalion commander. Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, he served notably during Operation Cast Lead in Gaza. His achievement marked a milestone for Ethiopian integration in Israeli society.
