Head of Ono’s Ethiopian Center Speaks with Jewish Students in Boston

Rabbi Dr. Sharon Shalom, the founding director of Ono Academic College’s International Center for the Study of Ethiopian Jewry, spoke to students at the Maimonides School outside of Boston. He shared the powerful story of his escape from Ethiopia as a child and his journey to Israel. It was a riveting encounter that fascinated the school’s students.

The Maimonides School is a coeducational, Modern Orthodox, Jewish day school located in Brookline, Massachusetts. The school was founded in 1937 by Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik, the noted American Orthodox rabbi, Talmudist, and modern Jewish philosopher, and his wife Tonya Soloveitchik.

Rabbi Dr. Shalom was happy to be back in Boston. He did his post doctoral studies at Brandeis University and is always happy to return to the region.
