On Sunday, 27/11/22, Ono Academic College’s International Center for the Study of Ethiopian Jewry, together with the Ra’anana Municipality, the Ministry of Culture and Matan, is sponsoring a symposium focusing on respect, identity, desperation and hope.
The public is invited to this evening of study that will be held in the auditorium of Matan Hasharon in Ra’anana.
The program for the event is as follows:
• Reception – with traditional Ethiopian cuisine prepared by chef Asi
• Greetings
o Mr. Chaim Braude, Mayor of the city of Ra’anana
o Rabanit Oshra Koren, Director of the Matan Study Hall
o Mr. Aryeh Friedman, Chairman of the Ra’anana religious council
• Keynote Lecture – Rabbi Dr. Sharon Shalom, Founder and Director of the International Center for the Study of Ethiopian Jewry at Ono Academic College, on the topic, “The Sigd Holiday: Between the consciousness of respect to the consciousness of submission, and from desperation to hope”.
• Keynote Lecture – Yuvi Tsuma, entrepreneur and social activist, facilitator at the Mandel Leadership Institute, on the topic “From Ethiopia to Israel and back – a journey of identity”. (The lecture will be accompanied by film clips)
As is the tradition of the Sigd holiday, guests are invited to arrive wearing white clothing
