Rabbi Haggai Londin, head of the Lev-Berliner Social Issues Beit Midrash at Ono Academic College and Rabbi Ilai Ifran of Kvutzat Yavne present opposing opinions about Lag Ba’Omer celebrations on website Kipa.co.il.  In the “Internet Beit Midrash (Study Hall),” Rabbi Loudin contends that the observance on Mount Miron is evidence than many people with innocent faith feel a spiritual connection to Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, who is buried there. On the opposing side, Rabbi Ofran believes that the phenomenon undercuts basic principles of Judaism.
