Ono Academic College congratulates Prof. Dudi Schwartz, former College Rector and Dean of its School of Law, who was elected today by a large majority as Vice Chairman of the Council for Higher Education. The Council of Higher Education (CHE) is Israel’s national accreditation body for higher education and the the Vice Chair most senior professional/academic authority in the Council, serving under the Chair, the sitting Minister of Education.
Over the past three decades, Prof. Schwartz has been one of the senior founders of Israeli academia. In the many roles he held at Ono Academic College, at Bar-Ilan University (as Dean of its School of Law and as Advisor to the President and Rector), as President of the Committee of Directors of Non-Budgeted Colleges, and as a veteran member of the Council of Colleges, he led Israel’s academic accessibility revolution and opened the gates to many populations that had until then been excluded from Israeli academia, while still maintaining academic excellence and public responsibility.
Prof. Schwartz published groundbreaking books and articles, won awards for his contributions to research, law, and society, and in his various roles, nurtured generations of esteemed researchers.
We are convinced that in his new role he will continue to lead academia to new heights and make it accessible to new populations, so that anyone who so desires can properly enjoy the fruits of wisdom and knowledge.
