The Ono Center for Health Law and Bioethics, directed by Dr. Gil Siegal, full time faculty member at the Ono Academic College Law School, is hosting a group of law and business students from the University of Virginia this week. The group, which numbers 20 participants, will hear expert lectures at Ono Academic College, Sheba Medical Center, the Supreme Court and more. Prof. Gabriela Shalev, President of the Higher Academic Council at Ono and Dean of the Law School, greeted the group at a reception upon their arrival to Israel. The group will discuss medical ethical issues such as consent to or refusing life-saving treatment, organ donor transplants, medical confidentiality, in-vitro fertilization, surrogate pregnancies, research and use of stem cells, medical malpractice and non-medical sex selection.
