Dr. CHAVA ERLICH ROGINSKY
About
I’m offering a unique combination between the academic world, and the practitioner’s world, as I have passion for and experience in both!
As an Architect and an Urban planner, I have always pushed myself to learn, study and understand the complex issues that influence the city as a living environment, and in recent years focused on density and climate change. I had my degrees in Architecture and PhD in Urban Planning from the Technion- Israel Institute of Technology, Israel. I am also holding an MPA- master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University, USA.
My career path took me from local municipalities to governmental positions. Nevertheless, during my work, I always kept my strong relationships with the academic world, and always instructed courses at different academic institutions. To my opinion, it is important to leave time for research and learning during busy daily work, to be more informed at one hand, and to be able to contribute to the education of the next generation of Urban Planners, on the other.
After I got my degree, I started working in small towns as City Architect, and during the years, moved on to higher positions. Between the years 2014- 2019 I served as the Chief Planner (“Head Engineer” as it is called in Israeli law), for the city of Petah-Tikva. Petah-Tikva is the 5th largest city in Israel and presents a lot of challenges to the executive and professional levels at the municipality. In 2019, I moved to a high hierarchy planning position at the government: Head Planner of the district of Tel Aviv, for the Ministry of Interior. In Israel we have 6 districts to manage our statutory planning, and Tel Aviv District is the busiest and important of them. My responsibilities were to supervise all the statutory planning of the most intensive district of the country, including planning for large infrastructures such as the new Metro Lines, Light Rails, large new neighborhoods and industrial projects. At the same time, as mentioned above, I have instructed courses in Academia (Technion- Israel Institute of Technology, Bar Iian university, and Ono Academic Collage).
