In 2008, the Knesset officially recognized the festival of Sigd (see Unit 3) as a national Israeli holiday. In a major victory in 2020, Israel\u2019s Chief Rabbinate formally agreed to the 1973 ruling of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef concerning the Jewish status of the Beta Israel (see Unit 7).
