Student Lorena Khateeb, a Druze activist, balances advocacy with her education degree. A research project by Adi Tanami and Chen Danino examines the toll of a reservist\u2019s service on family life. Dr. Naomi Landau-Halbertal\u2019s book on sexual violence during genocide, In the Jaws of the Patriarchy, reflects on October 7th. The \u201cOno Salon\u201d series, led by Dr. Michal Lev and Prof. Vivien Speiser, explores art therapy with pioneers like Shaun McNiff. Inbal Rosenhaus, a music student, conducts the Ra\u2019anana Symphonette in a tribute to ABBA.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4><strong>Introduction by Prof. Tova Hartman<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Dean of the School of Education, Professor Tova Hartman reflected on the start of the Spring 2025 semester, following the end of the major holidays of the three monotheistic religions.\u00a0 Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze and others play significant roles in Ono\u2019s School of Education, both as students and faculty.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4><strong>Student Profile: Lorena Khateeb<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Lorena Khateeb is \u00a0a young Druze woman studying in the program who has become a leading activist in Israeli advocacy in recent years. Since the start of the Iron Swords war, she has been working tirelessly, while also finding time to pursue a bachelor&#8217;s degree in education at Ono Academic College.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4><strong>\u201cDifficult, Challenging, But Being Part of Something Greater than Ourselves\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As part of their final project in a research course, Adi Tanami and Chen Danino, who are pursuing Master&#8217;s Degrees in Education with a specialization in Organizational Management, interviewed their friend, who is married to a reservist soldier. This soldier has been fighting continuously for over a year and a half. The interview focused on the impact of his service on their relationship and family life, spanning over a year and a half.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4><strong>\u201cThe Book Was Written Truly from the Blood of My Heart\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>For many years, Dr. Naomi Landau-Halbertal, a lecturer at Ono Academic College, researched the systematic sexual violence against women as part of genocidal practices. Then came October 7th, and with it, a new book \u201cIn the Jaws of the Patriarchy\u201d that explores the past while engaging with the present.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4><strong>\u201cTalking About It in the Living Room\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This article describes a unique series of meetings with leaders in the field of expressive and creative arts therapies which sparks deep emotional processes and allows participants to dive into unique worlds.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The program is facilitated by Dr. Michal Lev, a lecturer in Ono\u2019s Art Therapy program, and Prof. Vivien Marcow Speiser, Professor Emerita of Lesley University who founded the arts therapies programs at Ono.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the first meeting in the series, &#8220;Ono Salon \u2013 Conversations with Pioneers of Art Therapy,&#8221; the facilitators held a public conversation with Professor Shaun McNiff, a pioneer in the field of expressive arts therapies. The discussion with McNiff reflected his character\u2014informal, accessible, warm, and friendly\u2014illustrating his worldview. Concepts he coined, such as Trust the Process, Slipstream in Group Work, and Art is the Evidence, were explored in a deep and inspiring discussion, emphasizing that creativity is not just a tool but an entire way of life.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The program has fostered conversations with other pioneers in the field and created an art exhibition.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4><strong>\u201cThe Conductor\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Inbal Rosenhaus, who is completing her Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in the Screen and Stage Composition and Arrangement track at the School of Music at Ono Academic College, has been selected to conduct the Ra&#8217;anana Symphonette in a special tribute performance titled DANCING QUEEN, featuring the greatest hits of ABBA and Queen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Inbal Rosenhaus is a young conductor, composer, and arranger whose works and arrangements have been performed by several orchestras in Israel (the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Currently, she is writing arrangements for the Revolution Orchestra for a project titled &#8220;We Haven\u2019t Spoken Yet,&#8221; and performing as a pianist in the musical The Inn at the Cameri Theater, directed by Yotam Kushnir.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>At the same time, she is completing her bachelor&#8217;s degree in the Screen and Stage Composition and Arrangement track, under the direction of Maestro Yaron Gottfried.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33595 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ono.ac.il\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/05\/Education-Newsletter-5.25.png\" alt=\"School of Education Newsletter\" width=\"765\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ono.ac.il\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/05\/Education-Newsletter-5.25.png 765w, https:\/\/www.ono.ac.il\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/05\/Education-Newsletter-5.25-213x300.png 213w, https:\/\/www.ono.ac.il\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/05\/Education-Newsletter-5.25-725x1024.png 725w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 765px) 100vw, 765px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Spring 2025 newsletter from Ono Academic College\u2019s School of Education, introduced by Dean Tova Hartman, highlights the diverse community of Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Druze.
