{"id":7475,"date":"2022-08-23T06:04:28","date_gmt":"2022-08-23T06:04:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ono.ac.il\/eng-music\/?post_type=lecturer&#038;p=7475"},"modified":"2025-07-06T09:22:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-06T07:22:14","slug":"ofer","status":"publish","type":"lecturer","link":"https:\/\/www.ono.ac.il\/eng-music\/lecturer\/ofer\/","title":{"rendered":"Ofer Shapira"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ofer holds an MA degree in Jazz Performance from Queens College NY and has also studied at the New-School NY and attended the prestigious BMI workshop for jazz composers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As&nbsp;a saxophone and multi-wind instrumentalist&nbsp;Ofer is&nbsp;an active&nbsp;performer in the jazz and pop scene in Israel&nbsp;and abroad. He has played, amongst others, with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, numerous big bands and small groups, and with leading Israeli singers such as Ilanit, &nbsp;Yoni Rechter,&nbsp;Dorit Reuveni, Yehoram Gaon,&nbsp;Rona Kenan, Efrat Gosh,&nbsp;Kobi Peretz&nbsp;and others.&nbsp;He has appeared in most major festivals in Israel such as The Red Sea Jazz Festival, The Tel-Aviv Jazz Festival, The Israel Festival, The Piano Festival and others and has played in numerous theater productions as well as with the Broadway production of the musical Chicago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ofer is also a jazz composer\/arranger and has released two jazz albums&nbsp;to date, the first under the Israeli JazzIs label (2010) and the second under the&nbsp;NYC&nbsp;based label Gut String Records&nbsp;(2020)&nbsp;which received rave reviews in the jazz community in Israel and abroad.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A woodwind instructor and lecturer specializing in alto saxophone, jazz, harmony, and arrangement for big band<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":7037,"menu_order":65,"template":"","class_list":["post-7475","lecturer","type-lecturer","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ono.ac.il\/eng-music\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/lecturer\/7475","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ono.ac.il\/eng-music\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/lecturer"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ono.ac.il\/eng-music\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/lecturer"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ono.ac.il\/eng-music\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/7037"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ono.ac.il\/eng-music\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7475"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
