Over the years, Joca has presented his music at venues and festivals worldwide, and has collaborated in performances and recordings with renowned artists from different countries, like; Naná Vasconcelos, João Donato, Jaques Morelenbaum, Armandinho (Brazil); Paquito D’Rivera (Cuba), Edmar Castaneda (Colombia), Vincent Segal (France), Mayra Andrade and The Mendes Brothers (Cape Verde), and more.
His first solo album Entreventos was released in 2006 by the known Brazilian label Lumiar Discos and his second solo album Manso Balanço won great reviews by Billboard Brazil magazine, and was elected to the top 10 albums of 2014 by israeli-newspaper Haaretz.
Currently Joca is releasing his third solo album -RIO ALEGRE (Biscoito Fino label) , comprised of original sambas composed by Joca and the legendary Brazilian poet Delcio Carvalho.
Some of the highlights of Joca’s performances includes Virada Cultural São Paulo in Brazil, Aarhus Jazz Festival (Denmark), Red Sea Jazz Festival (Israel) , Jerusalem Sacred Music Festival, Punta del Este Jazz Festival in Uruguay, St. Petersburg International Jazz Festival, Projeto Ponte Cultural in Angola, and ElbJazz Festival in Hamburg as a special guest of the NDR Big Band.
In Israel, Joca has worked as a member of The Idan Raichel Project; is a co-founder of the Tucan Trio, and has collaborated in recordings and performances with top artists like Yoni Rechter, Matti Caspi, Arik Einstein, The Israel Philarmonic Orchestra, The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Ester Ofarim, Ivri Lider, Miky Gabrielov and more.
