Volunteering in the community
Ono Academic College, as a leading institution of higher education with an awareness of the problems inherent in the educational and social gap in Israel, established the Unit for Community Involvement that contributes to social progress in Israel.
Ono Academic College considers the community involvement of undergraduate law and business students a value, and therefore it is a national leader with a unique requirement that students be involved in the community.
Today, both the business and legal worlds in Israel are significantly involved in the community, so this project is a meaningful component in the training of lawyers and businesspeople who strive for integration. As part of the community volunteering at Ono Academic College, students in the Leadership, Zionism and Jewish Heritage, will be able to volunteer in one of these communal and social frameworks:
- Ma’aglei Tzedek – implementation and management of the Tav Hevrati or a school activity related to social justice.
- Yedidim – working with immigrant youth across the country.
- Legal Clinics – law students who provide legal assistance within the framework of various social organizations.
Community volunteering is mandatory during the first year of undergraduate studies, and students are granted 4 course credits required for the degree.
students are required to participate in four activities (worth 4 non-academic credits) in their the first year; three activities (worth 3 non-academic credits) in their second year; and two activities (worth 2 non-academic credits) in their third year, for a total of 9 credits.
Because the Religious Zionist Program is aware of the burdens on college students, the program is constructed so that it, in large part, is incorporated in the hours required at Ono Academic College (no extra hours).
