TEL AVIV DISTRICT ATTORNEY CLINIC- HAREDI (ULTRA-ORTHODOX) CAMPUS

In addition to criminal proceedings, the District Attorney’s Office (“DA”) handles a variety of civil proceedings in many fields of law: torts, real estate, commercial, fiscal, labor and more. Because the State is not only the defendant in a very large number of cases and the initiator or plaintiff in many legal proceedings, it is an active partner in very diverse civil proceedings.

The Tel Aviv District Attorney’s Office (Civil), which employs approximately 130 lawyers, is responsible for managing the State’s civil proceedings in the Tel Aviv and Central Israel District (and for some fields, the entire country), and is the largest district attorney’s office in the country. Many important legal doctrines in various fields of civil law are the result of proceedings conducted by the office of the Tel Aviv DA (Civil) over the years.

The office of the Tel Aviv DA (Civil) is organized in seven departments: civil/commercial; real estate; administrative affairs; labor disputes; defense and disability claims; torts and fiscal.

In this clinic, students have an opportunity to learn about the diverse and challenging work done by the office of the Tel Aviv DA (Civil) and participate in case management, legal proceedings in the various courts, and the preparation of  opinion on issue of fact and law relevant to actual cases, while gaining practical legal experience.

Students in the clinic will work one day a week under the close supervision of experienced lawyers in the office of the Tel Aviv DA (Civil), and hear theoretical lectures on general subjects relating to the DA’s office, practical tools used in its work, the various types of civil proceedings, rules of procedure, the management of the trials, etc.
