FACULTY OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS
The Ono Academic College Faculty of Health Professions was founded in cooperation with Maccabi Health Services and Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer. It currently includes the Department of Occupational Therapy and the Department of Communication Science and Disorders and the Department of Physical Therapy.
The faculty is headed by Professor Shlomo Noy, who also serves as Director of the Rehabilitation Hospital and Vice President for Research and Development of Sheba Medical Center.
Ono is the first private academic institution in Israel to receive the approval of the Council for Higher Education to open Bachelor’s Degree programs in Occupational Therapy and in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
The Faculty of Health Professions is established on the foundation of a social and interdisciplinary approach and evidence-based practice, for the purpose of educating professionals with a social perspective who are skilled in integrative, interdisciplinary work that is controlled and based on evidence.
As part of their studies, students are exposed to educational content from all of the departments in the Faculty of Health Professions, as has become accepted practice in Israel and internationally, wherever professionals work as on teams with people who are educated in different disciplines. Similarly, students acquire practical experience working in a wide variety of clinical frameworks at medical centers and in the community.
